Hot Isostatic Pressing, Casting Densification, HIP Cladding & HIP Brazing
X3 Innovations' HIP improves mechanical properties of castings by the elimination of internal microporosity. The combination of elevated pressure and temperature and time duration allows the material to flow in the solid state and to bond on an atomic level. The same principle is used to create fully dense material from metal, ceramic, composite and/or polymer powders. The HIP manufacturing route provides superior material properties to those achieved by alternative powder metallurgy (PM) fabrication methods and eliminates directionality of properties caused by other non-PM manufacturing processes.
Hot Isostatic Pressing
Manufacturing process which eliminates microporosity in metals and transforms metal, ceramic, composite or polymer powders into fully dense solids without melting.
Casting densification
Solid state densification of metal castings by the application of heat and highly pressurized inert gas, used to eliminate internal microporosity.
HIP cladding
Diffusion bonding of solid to solid or solid to powder metallurgy material to create a bi-metallic object with premium material properties on selective surfaces by encapsulation and hot isostatic pressing.
HIP brazing
HIP-assisted brazing is the joining of two dissimilar materials during the HIP process with the use of a brazing interlayer.
